You see, I know I don’t have to wear long hair or Brazilian weaves to feel beautiful or to be admired. I feel confident and beautiful in my natural state. And that doesn’t mean I’m condemning anyone who wears extensions or chooses a different style. It’s all about personal preferences.

What matters is that I’ve embraced my identity. I believe beauty doesn’t have to be excessive. Black is bold, black is beautiful, black is gold, black doesn’t crack. I am a Black woman. An African woman. And I proudly carry these African features. Every woman out there possesses that same power....so why the pressure to look Western?
